ABOUT THE ARTIST 

British pianist Joseph Houston, based in Berlin, is acclaimed for his “breathtakingly virtuosic” (Die Zeit) and “technically masterful” (Stuttgarter Zeitung) performances. His work spans contemporary and experimental music, late-Romantic repertoire, alternative keyboard instruments, and his own compositions, often presented in innovative, curatorially driven programmes. He has performed at major venues and festivals including the BBC Proms, Berlin Biennale, Wigmore Hall, Donaueschinger Musiktage, and Ultraschall Festival. In 2019 he co-founded the Saviet/Houston Duo, noted for high-profile premieres and their 2024 debut album a clearing. A member of Octandre Ensemble and the Phonetic Orchestra, Houston has collaborated with leading composers such as Rebecca Saunders, Christian Wolff, and Bryn Harrison, with recordings on WERGO, BIS, and Another Timbre. He is Visiting Lecturer in Contemporary Piano Music at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold.
