Join local artist Tanya Bub Under the Sea for an immersive art experience that plunges you into the heart of ocean life. Inspired by the vibrant marine ecosystems of Victoria’s coastal waters — home to orcas, otters, seals, octopus and so much more — this enchanting exhibit brings the sea to life through expressive, life-sized sculptures crafted from driftwood, wire, and paper.
The gallery will be transformed into a multi-sensory underwater world, featuring dynamic lighting, oceanic soundscapes, tactile elements, and interactive QR codes. Visitors can listen to amazing true stories about local marine animals, hear the sounds they make, and learn astounding facts about the incredible species that live just off our shores.
This immersive celebration of the beauty, intelligence, and fragility of marine life will serve as a moving reminder of our deep connection to the ocean and our shared responsibility to protect it.
The experience kicks off with a special opening reception on September 19, featuring a screening of Shared Waters, Shared Crisis — a powerful documentary about the endangered Southern Resident orcas who frequent our local waters.
This free, family-friendly exhibit is open to everyone. Whether you're a lifelong ocean lover or simply curious to explore the sea while keeping your feet dry, all are invited to dive in and be inspired. Art collectors are encouraged to come to the exhibition early as all the sculptures in the show will be available for purchase.
Presented in partnership with the Georgia Strait Alliance, a leading advocate for the protection of BC’s marine environment.
