Under the baton of conductor Ajtony Csaba, the UVic Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of vibrant and powerful works spanning centuries and continents.
Under the baton of conductor Ajtony Csaba, the UVic Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of vibrant and powerful works spanning centuries and continents. The program opens with a colourful and rhythmic performance of Kauyumari by contemporary Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, followed by a spirited arrangement of Tempo di Minuetto by Marianna Martines, a trailblazing Classical-era composer. Violinist Tamsyn Klazek-Schryer, winner of the 2025 UVic Concerto Competition, takes the stage as soloist in Mozart’s elegant Violin Concerto No. 2 in D Major. The second half of the concert features Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 5, a timeless masterpiece that captures the struggle and triumph of the human spirit.
