Join us in celebrating the companies and projects that go above and beyond in the pursuit of low embodied carbon design 2026 CLF BC Embodied Carbon Symposium May 21, 2026 (8:30am-3:30pm) D6 Lounge Debuting this year, the Embodied Carbon Symposium will give attendees an opportunity to earn Professional Development credits through building awareness of best practices and lessons learned, as well as feasible, replicable, and innovative solutions to advance embodied carbon reduction goals. The program will include a presentation on the state of the landscape of embodied carbon and panel discussions and presentations with previous CLF BC Embodied Carbon Awards winners. Participants will engage in an interactive workshop and gain actionable insights to power their next projects. Ticket includes breakfast pastries and a light lunch. The symposium will feature: State of Landscape Panel w/ Previous OCC, PSL, and STP winners: The symposium will kick off with a presentation and panel discussion on the state of landscape of embodied carbon in 2026. Past winners of the Organizational Commitment to Change, Public Sector Leadership, and Strengthening the Practice categories will share insights on how they have been adapting their strategies and approach to respond to evolving challenges impacting the industry, from tariffs and trade uncertainty, to fluctuating government appetite for climate action, tighter funding, housing affordability crisis, and construction cost-of-delivery. (Organizational Commitment to Change 2025) Marcos Alejandro Badra: Program Manager, Circular Economy, City of Richmond (Public Sector Leadership 2025) Project Showcases: Large Buildings 2025 Winner:Royal BC Museum Provincial Archives, Research & Collections (PARC) Building This presentation dives into the award-winning embodied carbon reduction strategies that allowed Equilibrium to achieve a 34% reduction in embodied carbon on the Royal BC Museum Provincial Archives, Research, and Collections building (RBCM PARC). Learn how large-scale adoption of mass timber, use of low-carbon concrete mixes with high supplementary cementitious material (SCM) content, optimization of structural connections, integration of architecture and structure, and prioritization of locally sourced materials to minimize transport emissions drove their award‑winning design. Presenter: Tom Place: Associate Structural Engineer, Equilibrium Commitment to Circularity 2025 Winner:Low Carbon Tenant Improvement Project Discover how Perkins&Will reimagined their Vancouver studio to cut embodied carbon by 52%while maintaining beauty and comfort. Learn how strategic material reuse, material efficiency, and low‑carbon specifications came together to achieve an award‑winning result.
