About Ben Tizzard: Ben holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Guitar from Ambrose University, and has had the privilege of studying with renowned Calgary musicians such as Ralf Bushmeyer, Neil McVey, Aaron Young, and Aaron Shorr. With over 15 years of experience playing the guitar, Ben has honed his skills and developed a unique musical style that incorporates a plethora of musical genres. Throughout his career, Ben has achieved notable accomplishments, including being a 2014 finalist in the Stampede Talent Show, performing in Stage West Musical Productions of Footloose, Legends of the 80’s, and Sister Act, as well as in the 42nd Street Production Musical "New York New York.” Providing improvised accompaniment for live script readings at the Calgary Film Fest, and performing with Jennie Harluk at the 2023 YYC Music Awards. He has also worked as a jazz guitar clinician at the Vic Lewis 2022 Festival and adjudicated guitar at the 2026 Strathmore Performing Arts Festival. Ben has performed at various Calgary venues such as the Ironwood Stage and Grill, The King Eddy, The Grey Eagle Casino, The Telus Convention Centre, SAIT Jubilee Auditorium, Mount Royal University, University of Calgary, Alvin’s Jazz Club, Hyatt Hotel, Werklund Center, and many more! In addition to his performances, Ben fills his time professionally by teaching privately and at local studios such as Cornerstone Café, and Chinook School of Music.
