Event Description

Welcome! FediCollective is a warm community where everyone can learn and grow. We believe in building bridges, not walls. No question is too small and no idea is too silly. Your hosts are Crissy and friends. We love coffee, cats, and connecting people. Crissy is a Founder who believes the internet should belong to people, not big tech. We combine empathy and logic to dream up better social platforms. Excited to welcome sev geraskin & April AI of Economy of Wisdom Foundation to share how they build financial dignity in Vancouver. Learn how consent-based tech supports the Downtown Eastside through their Wisdom Wallet! This is a real-world example of combining system logic with human wisdom to create tools that empower rather than control. Whether you are a designer, a coder, or a community builder, see how ethical AI and soft-tech can foster collective healing and growth. 📅 Agenda 1. Intro & Icebreakers (5 mins): Crissy introduces FediCollective 2. Presentation (35 mins): Economy of Wisdom Foundation with sev & April https://economyofwisdom.org/ 3. Mingle (20 mins): Chat in small groups or one-on-one The cafĂ© stays open until 6 pm, so you can stay as long as you like! Let’s connect over the things that make us happy. Join a cozy, open chat where we celebrate people, ideas, and the little things in life. 1. Tell us about a person or pet who inspires you 2. Share a favourite food, recipe, or restaurant 3. Show off a new piece of technology or a philosophy you enjoy We are here to share joy and genuine connection. Please come as you are and share what you cherish. All are welcome. 🌎 Land Acknowledgment: We honour the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples: the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. 1. Venue: Reservation is under “Crissy” with seating near the door 2. Transit: A 3-minute walk from Royal Oak Skytrain 3. Parking: Street parking is nearby on Palm Ave 4. Menu: https://sweetpuffin.ca 5. Photos: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/xinageco_fedicollective-ethicalai-bipoc-activity-7371310400232984576-7934 6. Support: Suggested spend is $10 to support the local cafĂ© ❓ FAQ: What is Brew & Build? Think of a cozy coffee shop, not a stiff conference room. It is a relaxed space for creative and technical people to share ideas. Who is it for? 1. Creatives: Designers, artists, and writers 2. Technical Folks: Developers and problem-solvers 3. Collaborators: Anyone looking for new projects and good conversation Can I help? Yes. You can join as a guest, supporter, co-host, or organizer. ✹ In short: Come for the coffee, stay for the conversation, and help us imagine a better internet together.
