Event Description

Spend a lovely morning playing with flowers at our wonderful Arts Centre by the sea! In this fun, beginner-friendly workshop, you will learn how to put together a sweet & simple posey that fits perfectly in a Mason jar for you to take home and enjoy. You will pick up a few tricks of the trade such as the types of flowers & greenery to buy, how to process the flowers, and the most visually pleasing way to arrange the blooms to create a lovely hand-tied bouquet. After this workshop, you'll be ready to make your own special posey for Mother's Day the following week on Sunday, May 10th! Or better yet, buy two tickets and bring mom along for a fun playdate you will both enjoy! :) No experience necessary. SUPPLY FEE All materials will be provided, including fresh-cut flowers and a Mason jar for you to take your posey home in, for a cash fee of $20 , but if you happen to have these items lying about, please bring them with you to class: garden clippers (aka shears/pruners/snips, NOT scissors) a small box with paper to keep your Mason jar in place for your drive home wear comfortable clothing or bring an apron to protect your clothes from stains wear comfortable shoes as we will be standing for most of the class (we can set up chairs if needed, but it's a little awkward to arrange flowers sitting down) ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Here's your chance to meet & get to know our Arts Program Coordinator, Sunny Ba , who has loved arranging flowers since she first apprenticed at the most charming flower shop in Colmar, France, at the age of 16. Born in Taiwan, Sunny grew up in Kingston, Ontario, and has worked as a floral designer in Toronto, Los Angeles, and Orange County, where she also took up calligraphy & handlettering. Sunny now lives in the Lagoon neighbourhood in Colwood with her husband, two cats and a dog. To see some of Sunny's calligraphy work, please visit www.sunnyba.com. CLASS LOCATION This workshop is hosted by the Arts & Culture Colwood Society at the Goldfinch Arts Centre , a bright & modern gallery space that looks out to the Esquimalt Lagoon and the Colwood Waterfront beyond, where you will be surrounded by original artwork by local artists in our 17th annual BLOOM exhibition, which runs from April 2nd to May 3rd, 2026. Please visit our website for more details on this and other upcoming events: www.artsandculturecolwood.ca . Class size limit 14 people Ticket sales end a week prior on Wednesday, April 22nd, at 2pm PST
