Critical Mass is a monthly, community-led bike ride that takes over Calgary's streets to celebrate cycling and promote bike-friendly infrastructure. On the last Friday of each month, riders of all ages and skill levels gather in Sunnyside for a fun, slow-paced cruise through downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. It's not a protest or organized event—just a spontaneous gathering where cyclists ride together to show strength in numbers and enjoy the city from two wheels. The route changes each time, but the vibe stays the same: festive, inclusive, and car-free (at least at the front!). Why join? It’s a chance to meet fellow cyclists, explore the city in a unique way, and be part of a global movement for safer streets. Bring your bike and lights (for evening rides). Our group will meet at the main entrance of the Sunnyside Safeway at 6 pm and then make our way to the Critical mass Launch Point! While I love doing the Critical Mass Bike Ride, it is more enjoyable doing with people you know.
