Three artists, three approaches to shedding light on the theme of shadows through photography.
Three artists, three approaches to shedding light on the theme of shadows through photography.
Anne McCarthy bends, blends and enriches her photographs with digital manipulation and hand-painted additions to expose shadows that are real, imagined and sometimes stretched to abstraction.
Clare Palmer has an eye for coaxing overlooked subjects out of the shadows. Her subtly engaging shadows are raw, unedited and meant to be taken as she saw them.
Ron Charles uses vintage cameras and age-old techniques to bring shadows to large format sheet film, glass dry plates, and rare long-expired darkroom paper.
Donations will be accepted to support Rainbow Haven, which operates safe houses abroad for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers forced to live in the shadows while awaiting resettlement after fleeing persecution from anti-gay laws that threaten imprisonment and death in their home countries.
Opening Reception Friday, November 21st from 3-6 pm
You are also invited to join Anne McCarthy, Clare Palmer and Ron Charles for an Artists Talk Monday, November 24th, 1-3 pm
