Born into one of Iran’s respected musical families, Pooria Pournazeri has emerged as a significant voice in Kurdish and Persian musical traditions. A former member and conductor of the renowned Shams Ensemble, he developed a distinctive artistic approach rooted in folklore, classical repertoire, and innovative composition. His debut album Zhoor—praised by Songlines magazine—introduced his unique musical language, and he has since continued performing, composing, and teaching tanbour, setar, and daf in Montreal.
Raha Yousefi brings a rich and expressive vocal presence shaped by years of studying Persian classical singing. Known for her lyrical interpretation, emotional depth, and clarity of tone, she has become a rising artistic voice within Canada’s Iranian music community.
Together, Pooria and Raha create a vibrant musical dialogue that bridges tradition and contemporary expression, offering audiences an immersive exploration of the poetic and spiritual dimensions of Iranian music.
