Event Description

Fri. Feb. 6th 9pm-2am Public Hearing Ft: Saucey B2B Thom Banks Clark B2B Natty Dee Bee We’re stoked to welcome Saucey for his first-ever PH appearance, going b2b with his longtime partner in crime Thom Banks, a certified PH regular and Garden City mainstay. Bonus: rumour has it birthday celebrations are in order Clark, a true community favourite, returns for a special b2b with resident Night Mayor (Natty). Opening the night, we’re excited to welcome Dee Bee to the Public Hearing! family for her PH debut. Saucey https://on.soundcloud.com/lEvxcs3sbF9BI75Drm Saucey’s signature sound rides the groove between Deep House and Tech House, characterized by low-end frequencies and crisp percussion. Throughout his career, he’s shared the stage with electronic music royalty including Sasha, Carl Cox, DJ Dan, Derrick Carter, LTJ Bukem, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Grandmaster Flash. Thom Banks https://soundcloud.com/thombanks https://www.mixcloud.com/thombank https://soundcloud.com/thombanks Thom Banks is a staple in the dance music community in the City of Gardens since the 90's. Thom has earned himself many residencies over the years and has been invited to play at the best festivals, parties and clubs on the West Coast, including Song & Surf, Cosmic Campout, Diversity Festival, Festivus, Tall Tree Festival, Wonderment Festival, Rifflandia, Basscoast, and of course, Soundwave, west coast Canada's fabled electronic music festival. His tight mixing, unparalleled track selection and keen ability in interpreting his crowd on the dance floor has allowed him to play alongside names such as Mathew Jonson, Dave Seaman, Mark Farina, Gene Farris, The Mole, Bassnectar and Eddie C, just to name a few. He's often considered a DJ's favourite DJ. Clark (Vic.) Clark is the consummate tastemaker. He has been curating underground dance lineups for some of Vancouver Islands most notorious stages for well over a decade, with deep involvement in the West Coast dance music community for well over 20 years. Clarks efforts curating artists for major events like The Spirit Tree Stage at Tall Tree Music Festival, and the electronic dance acts at the legendary Song and Surf Music festival (which has garnered so much trust from its diehard fans that it sells out in minutes, long before the always stellar lineup is announced), have spilled over to his set curation. His selections go deep, taking advantage of his years of exposure to some of the worlds premier diggers and selectors, but his sets are aimed squarely at making us dance, decoupling us from time; giving ourselves over to rhythm and sound. Preferring the long format freestyle set for its capacity for connection with the dancers in front of him, as well as the storytelling that can be accomplished as one DJ links a set together, locked in the moment with a space and and the people filling it. Dee Bee https://soundcloud.com/dbthurday12 Dee Bee (Deb) grew up on Vancouver Island, where she had the good fortune of spending time on dance floors and building community at quality festivals. It was the music at these events that most influenced her DJ style. She calls Cumberland home, and can often be found in the mountains, by the ocean or in the forest. Natty https://soundcloud.com/solomon-potashnick https://www.instagram.com/nattydj_/ A staple of Vancouver Island’s underground house music scene, known for deep house journeys that wander confidently through the genre’s foundations and offshoots, spontaneously gliding into the unexpected. He is also known for immersive marathon DJ sets, creating space to play with the relationship between subtle tension and cathartic release — with more than a few surprises — risking it all for frisson. Currently, he holds a residency at The Downbeat with Public Hearing! and hosts a weekly radio show of the same name on Sooke Community Radio. He has recently headlined Victoria’s legendary R.U.S.H. party and played an all-night-long set at Victoria’s beloved Lucky Bar. Over the past 22 years, Natty has shared bills with and/or promoted countless shows featuring a plethora of the industry’s heavyweights, and has played virtually every festival on Vancouver Island and every dance-centric club in Victoria. He’s also a member of the notorious Big Head Knights (with local legends Mr. Moe, Thom Banks, and Matt Rose) — a long-standing party now in its 21st year. By day, Natty is a commercial real estate broker helping secure permanent homes for local arts and culture spaces — earning the moniker “The Night Mayor.”
