Learn in person through handouts and hands-on activities in raised beds from our Program Manager.
The Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture is offering a 5-part series to help you increase your productivity in the home garden. Join us in person on the third Thursday of the month to get your hands in the dirt, learn how to build healthy soil, support your garden ecosystem, and grow delicious, nutrient dense vegetables!
This course includes hand out material and involves hands-on gardening activities in the Sandown Teaching Garden, which consists of ten raised beds. Participants can expect to harvest and take home vegetables at the end of each session.
Open to all gardening levels. We will tailor the sessions to the cohort. You can expect activities like planting seeds, transplanting seedings, weeding, learning different trellising and irrigation techniques, harvesting, and more.
In Person Session 1: Thursday, May 21st, 5pm - 7pm
Site tour, intro to vegetables, garden design, seed starting and transplanting
In Person Session 2: Thursday, June 18th, 5pm - 7pm
Healthy soil (amendments and fertility), bed prep, seed starting and transplanting cont'd
In Person Session 3: Thursday, July 16th, 5pm - 7pm
Irrigation, vertical growing (trellising), companion planting, succession planting
In Person Session 4: Thursday, August 20th, 5pm - 7pm
Composting, soil food web, pests and disease, winter growing
In Person Session 5: Thursday, September 17th, 5pm - 7pm
Harvesting, storing vegetables, series wrap-up
