Event Description
A father (
Sergi López
) and his son arrive at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco. They are searching for Mar — daughter and sister — who vanished months ago at one of these endless, sleepless parties. Surrounded by electronic music and a raw, unfamiliar sense of freedom, they hand out her photo again and again. Hope is fading, but they push through and follow a group of ravers heading to one last party in the desert. As they venture deeper into the burning wilderness, the journey forces them to confront their own limits.

T was nominated for two Oscars including Best Sound and WON for Best International Feature.
“A brutal reminder that the journey can be more important than the destination, ‘Sirât’ is an unforgettable exercise in tension that wallops its audience like a deafening blast of bass to the face.”
(Rotten Tomatoes)
“‘Sirât’ brilliantly depicts that bubble breaking, its characters confronted with what it really means to be a citizen of the world, rather than gliding above it, with the music turned up loud enough to not have to listen. “
(New York Magazine / Vulture)
“It’s near-unbearable, and as powerful as it is narratively useful. “
(New York Times)
“[Director] Laxe stages a deathly pas de deux between humanity and nature, with technology — embodied here by worn-down speakers and rusted vehicles — as a mediator that begets both agony and ecstasy. “
(Globe and Mail)
“‘Sirât’ is not for everyone. But it is the sort of overwhelming cinematic experience and undeniable work of sound and vision that could be life-changing for those ready to receive it.”
(Rolling Stone Magazine)
