Come join Stella White for a swinging night of vocal jazz! Stella White is an 18-year-old Downbeat Award Winning vocalist currently pursuing her Bachelor's of Jazz Performance at McGill University. She’s returning to Vancouver Island for the holidays and is so excited to return to this amazing collaboration with Ashley Wey and other fantastic Victoria musicians. She draws inspiration from greats like Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae, as well as newer jazz vocalists like Jazzmeia Horn. In 2024 and 2025, she sang with The West Coast Soul Collective, a local funk and soul band, and has also spent time singing in pop, folk, and classical genres. She studies under Camille Thurman at McGill University and is so excited to bring something new back to her home in Victoria. Her tone, storytelling, and love for the music are palpable, and she’ll be bringing all of that and more to the stage on January 3rd. Ashley Wey is a multi-award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist. Pianist, composer and singer Ashley Wey is a multi-faceted artist who is highly regarded for both her playing and her writing, as well as how she seamlessly crosses over from jazz to live electronic music and hip-hop. This collaboration from Ashley and Stella has been in the works over the last year and brings so much joy to the bandstand and to the audience. Stella and Ashley are joined by a fantastic band with strong musical chemistry, and it’s sure to be a great night, featuring classic vocal standards, cheeky arrangements, and joy onstage.
