Event Description

LGBTQ2+
Pride Month Film Screening: The Fruit Machine The Fruit Machine exposes a dark chapter in Canadian history. From the 1950s until 1996, the Canadian government systematically hunted and interrogated 2SLGBTQI+ people in the RCMP, military, and civil service. An estimated 9,000 people were discriminated against, harassed, and often fired – in what is known as the LGBT Purge. Join us for a screening followed by Q&A with survivors from the LGBT Purge Fund board: military survivors Martine Roy and Diane Pitre (who appear in the film), and RCMP survivor retired S/Sgt Wayne Davis. Members from Out on Patrol will be in attendance and light refreshments will be served. The Fruit Machine Film Screening — Sunday, June 7 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. FREE Viewer discretion advised: This film contains sensitive discussions and personal recollections of sexual abuse which may be triggering for some viewers. Support resources will be available.
