The Seaside Music Festival
June 19–21 | Sidney, BC
Mary Winspear Centre, ANAF #302 & Beacon Bandshell
Concerts, cabarets, free shows & workshops
From multi-Grammy-winning folk icon Judy Collins at the Mary Winspear Centre to blues legend Colin Linden at ANAF #302, the Seaside Music Festival brings an eclectic mix of world-class music to Sidney and the Saanich Peninsula June 18–21.
This year’s lineup features a sweeping blend of folk, blues, soul, jazz, roots and indie music, including performances by Dawn Pemberton, Emily Braden, Dana Sipos, Ella Korth, Nautical Disaster, The Haven, Bagatelle, Tia Greenwood & Co., Max Francis and more.
“Seaside has always been about collaboration and musical discovery,” says Artistic Director Oliver Swain. “Our free waterfront festival days will feature unique artist collaborations throughout the weekend, while Saturday night’s Soul Summit at the Charlie White Theatre brings together Dawn Pemberton and Emily Braden for an unforgettable evening of soul, jazz and R&B. When singers of that calibre share the stage, you know some magical moments are going to happen.”
In addition to performances at the Mary Winspear Centre and free daytime programming at the Beacon Bandshell, the festival also expands into Sidney’s beloved ANAF #302. Saturday night features Nautical Disaster – Canada’s Tribute to The Tragically Hip, while Grammy-winner Colin Linden of ‘Oh Brother Where Art Thou’ fame performs Thursday.
Beyond the concerts, Seaside also offers educational workshops led by festival performers, covering songwriting, vocals, instrumental technique and music appreciation. The Victoria Guitar Show joins the festival on Saturday, giving attendees a chance to explore instruments crafted by some of BC’s finest luthiers and hear festival musicians put them through their paces.
“Our goal is to create a world-class musical event that reflects the incredible arts infrastructure and community spirit of Sidney and the Peninsula,” says Swain. “Whether you’re enjoying free waterfront concerts with family, catching a legendary artist at the Winspear, or discovering new talent, there’s something here for everyone.”
