Event Description

Spend a fun Saturday morning creating your own unique Valentines with Cindy McMath at our wonderful Goldfinch Arts Centre by the sea! Join this beginner-friendly workshop for an energizing start to your day filled with creativity & craft as we learn different techniques to hand print your own Valentine's Day cards. During the first part of the workshop, we’ll make prints with a gelli plate. Then, we’ll use the prints along with a variety of collage materials to make our own, one-of-a-kind Valentines greeting cards. Plan to leave with at least 3 to 5 completed cards, extra prints and unlimited ideas! MATERIALS FEE Please bring $5 cash for the instructor to cover all materials & tool use in this workshop. Please let us know upon registration whether you have your own gelli plate & brayer that you can bring to use in class. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Cindy McMath has been doing something creative for as long as she can remember – everything from stained glass to bad knitting. These days, Cindy is passionate about colour, paper and paint, creating mixed media works in addition to her abstract painting practice. Cindy’s mixed media pieces have been featured in various publications such as Somerset Studio and her paintings hang in private collections in the US, Canada and the UK. Cindy is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, the Arts and Culture Colwood Society, the Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts Society, and is the member of the Art Rental and Sales Program through the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Cindy frequently shows her work in juried and non-juried shows throughout the Greater Victoria area as well as the Federation Gallery in Vancouver. CLASS LOCATION This workshop is hosted by the Arts & Culture Colwood Society at the Goldfinch Arts Centre, a bright & modern gallery space that looks out to the Esquimalt Lagoon and the Colwood Waterfront beyond, where you will be surrounded by original artwork by local artists in an exhibition called Furred, Feathered and Scaled, which runs February 5th through March 1st. Please visit our website for more details on this and other upcoming events: www.artsandculturecolwood.ca. Class size limit 14 people Ticket sales end on Wednesday, February 4th, at 2pm PST
