Event Description
Join us for another awesome VGDS session! This time, we have Nhi Do, Remy Siu, and more!
We're hosting an inspiring evening where video game industry professionals will share their insights and expertise. On February 25th at 5:30 PM, join us at UBCB/ACTRA with Nhi Do, Remy Siu, and more!
Michael Silverwood is the co-founder of Pixile Studios and co-creator of Super Animal Royale, the 64-player survival shooter where adorably murderous animals fight with deadly weapons like machine guns and bananas. Enjoyed by more than 13 million players across PC and consoles, it recently got a major expansion called Super Animal World, adding storytelling and cozy activities like fishing, bug catching, and hamsterball racing between the fights to the death. Michael and co-founder Chris grew up together in North Vancouver, and Pixile is now a 16-person fully remote indie studio. Michael previously worked in San Francisco venture capital and studied Business and Computer Science at UBC. He also plays ultimate frisbee and has fostered 73 kittens.
Nhi Do (she/her) is a second gen Vietnamese-Canadian actor, voice actor, and emerging producer with a passion for socially relevant and character-driven narratives. As an actor, Nhi has worked on numerous hit projects, such as Watchmen (WB) and LEGO Friends: The Next Chapter (Netflix). Her lead performance in the Peabody winning video game, 1000xRESIST (nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Character at the D.I.C.E. Awards), is out now on Xbox and PS5. Nhi is also producing the horror/thriller feature, Sawtooth Mountain, with LA-based Showdown Productions handling sales. Nhi is an STC graduate of the American Conservatory Theatre and loves cats.
Remy Siu 蕭逸南 (he/him) is a composer, new media artist, and game developer based in Vancouver, BC. In 2021, he founded sunset visitor 斜陽過客, an independent video game studio focused on narrative experiences. Their debut game, 1000xRESIST, won a Peabody Award and was nominated for the Hugo and Nebula Awards. He is interested in finding new ways to organize the formal aspects of games and passionate about difference and diversity in the industry.
