Event Description
While he’s trapped in his apartment recovering from COVID, an exasperated Vic tries to evade a nosy apparition of his late mother.
Showings – select to order tickets:
Year: : 09/05/2024 00:00
Runtime: : 10 minutes
Language: : English
Country: : United States, United States
Rating: : PG
Genre: : Comedy, Horror, Drama
Note: : So many of my friends lost moms, titas, and lolas who were healthcare workers during the height of the pandemic. You can blame some of that on immigration laws that only allowed Filipino healthcare professionals into the country because of a US nursing shortage. But while Filipinos represented 4% of nurses nationwide, they made up a whopping 25% of all registered nurses who died of COVID-19. And today, we’re still studying the after-effects, PTSD and CPTSD of the extreme toll ICUs were subjected to. I know there’s an urge to look away at the pain of the last few years. But, what if you could support a short film that approached it with warmth, humor, and a little bit of sorrow? That’s why we’re making Vic and His Nanay–to honor our future ancestors who bravely sacrificed their lives for us.
Director: : Jillian Janairo
Screenwriter: : Jillian Janairo
Producer: : Tara Aquino, Mel Mah, Frances Rubio
Cast: : Gino-Charles Villanueva, Gigette Reyes
