Event Description
Vancouver Island fans of Gwen Lamont’s memoir The View From Coffin Ridge: A Childhood Exhumed have invited the author to come to Vancouver Island for 4 author events; kicking off in Victoria at Caffe Fantastico on Monday April 20th at 5:30 p.m.
The book was released in spring 2024. 2500+ books have been sold, the screenplay by Toronto filmmaker Penny Eizenga (Dog Eared Productions) is in the hands of people in the movie industry and 1150 people have attended author events all over Ontario.
The Victoria events will include two readings, a conversation with Gregor Craigie CBC Host of “On the Island” and a social hour. The ticket price of $50 includes a signed book, a bottle of "Into the Light" wine from Coffin Ridge Winery near Owen Sound, Ontario (that Gwen and her husband Neil own), hors d'oeuvres and a drink
Gwen's book The View From Coffin Ridge: A Childhood Exhumed tells quite a story. For over thirty years, the memories of her childhood were buried. Once those years were over, she never spoke of them. No one knew of her chaotic, poor family. No one knew she had been a child bride, or of her close brush with death at the hands of a man who claimed to love her.
Gwen didn't finish grade 9 but today she holds 4 degrees. The research for her Master of Social Work thesis, took her into prisons where she interviewed men who had killed their intimate partner. Her research is on her website gwenlamontauthor.ca
