Event Description

Live MusicClassical & Jazz
Join us for a series of short, outdoor performances across Victoria at Butch Dick’s “Signs of lək̓ʷəŋən” Spindle Whorls. At scheduled times throughout the afternoon, singers will share music drawn from Found in Translation, a project exploring opera in Indigenous and global languages through collaboration with Elders. At each site, these brief performances are paired with stories and reflections shared by Elders, connecting music to place, language, and community. Free and open to all, each stop lasts just a few minutes, inviting you to drop in, listen, and reflect. All locations run at the same time, with the same short program repeating throughout the afternoon every 20 minutes. Feel free to start at any site and visit as many as you like—there’s no need to follow a specific order. The Locations (see the map below for exact locations):• Songhees Point• Victoria City Hall• Wharf Park (opposite the foot of Broughton Street)• Lower Causeway – Inner Harbour• Royal B.C. Museum• Laurel Point• Beside the Lookout on Beacon Hill
