Event Description

Award Winning non-binary artist Q performs a short concert followed by a fun family barn dance (no experience or partner needed) We hope you’ll join us for a wonderful evening of music and dance! The evening will start with a short concert featuring Q Brooke Bachand who will be presenting repertoire from their upcoming album “Seeds of Discontent”. Non-binary west-coast artist ‘Q’ , has been celebrated in the Canadian and International Celtic music scene as one half of the award-winning powerhouse du o Qristina & Quinn Bachand. Recognized for their powerful fiddle, captivating vocals and infectious energy, their love of Folk and Celtic music has always been at the forefront as they captivate audiences with spirited performances that showcase their fiddle & vocal talents, along with their passion for folk songs and storytelling. For over 20 years Q has graced stages across Canada, the United States and Europe, earning numerous nominations and winning multiple awards including two Irish Music Awards ( Top Duo and Top Traditional Group ). More recently Q has grown into their (non-binary) gender identity and life’s purpose & are singing rebel ballads and folk songs (acapella & self-accompanied), interspersed with rip-roaring fiddle tunes to help heal the soul. Their music will inspire as they will bring you to tears or have you clapping along & stomping your feet! There will be a short intermission between the concert and dance, the concession (sweets & non-alcoholic beverages) will be open for the rest of the night. All proceeds from concession sales will be going towards SNWWOC (Support Network for Indigenous Women & Women of Colour) as well as to the Victoria Native Friendship Centre. After the intermission, we will enjoy a fun all-ages barn dance with “caller” Cohan Lyne teaching and calling the dances! No experience or partner is required! But be sure to wear your comfy shoes, it’ll be fun! The stellar band includes Q on fiddle, Tasia MacKay on flute and banjo, Andrew Morris on bodhran & spoons and Brad Johnson on guitar & concertina. Q recently discovered they have Irish & Scottish ancestry – the very traditions they’ve devoted their life’s work to. This special event is a fundraiser about heritage, healing & transformation, as Q journies to Ireland later in April. So expect fiery fiddle tunes, rebel songs, and tender moments that hold us all! Your support helps fuel independent art, community care and the next evolution in Q’s journey!
