It’s back and better than ever! UVic Whitewater Club is bringing back AQ Outdoors' film competition River Reels to campus. River Reels features all kinds of paddling movies that you don't want to miss, including extreme Whitewater kayaking and urban river surfing. Attending automatically puts you in the running for our amazing door and raffle prizes from sponsors: AQOutdoors, Outway Socks, AquaQuest, CragX, NRS, Fernwood Coffee, UVic Bookstore, Grove Outdoors, Comox Kite Repair, Watershed, Peppers Foods, Northwater and Valhalla Pure Outfitters. We have over $2000 worth of prizes, so come get some. Tickets can be ordered online up to Jan 21st for $20, or at the door for $25. The event will be held in the Bob Wright Flurry Hall (BWC B150) on January 23rd from 6:30pm to 9:30pm (doors open at 6:15). Each ticket purchased includes a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Bent shaft powerhouse paddle from AQ outdoors. (valued at over $500!) and 1 draw prize ticket. Additional raffle tickets can be bought at the door. This event is a fundraiser to help us raise money for the UVic whitewater club. As you may have heard, the McKinnon pool is no longer operational, which means the club has been unable to run pool sessions, which help make the sport more accessible to new members. The funds from this event will go towards renting pool space for the club and to BC Whitewater, a local, not-for-profit organization that helps make rivers and kayaking more accessible in BC. This event is not exclusive to paddlers! It's for everyone who loves the outdoors, so be sure to grab your ticket and get in on the film fun.
