Event Description

Curious about the ecology of our Pacific coastline? Want to know more about how snorkelling can help document and combat climate change? Hungry for knowledge on coastal stewardship, underwater photography and places to snorkel around BC's mainland? Read on! What: Trained as a landscape architect, Benji Eisenberg has made a career out of studying ecological restoration and climate adaptation on the West Coast. In this talk, Benji will tell us how to harness your skills as a snorkeler, freediver, or underwater explorer to help nurture our coastlines and our planet. Come and join for an evening of underwater photography, ideas on where to snorkel on the lower mainland, as well as zones of ecological interest along the BC coast. Bonus: Free draw prizes, including a gift certificate for East2West Freediving. When: April 17, 6:30pm. The presentation is followed by the opportunity to meet and mingle. Where: The COAST Ocean Innovation Hub, 517 Herald Street, Victoria. Parking: There is paid parking onsite, or free parking a block away (Store Street beyond Herald). If you store your bike at the racks, be aware that there have been thefts so make sure to lock the frame and wheels securely. How much: Free, by donation (suggested $2 to help us cover our costs). RSVP: Please RSVP at the following link so that we know how many people to expect (we'll be checking names upon arrival).
