Event Description
An intro to South Indian cuisine! We will learn the wonderful spice combinations and cooking techniques unique to that region.
Southern India: a land of abundant seafood, spices, coconut palms, and fiery flavourful food. Tonight's cooking class will bring a small slice of the region to your plate, as we explore the unique flavours and cooking techniques of Southern India.
Chef Heidi has years of experience cooking and teaching Indian cuisine, informed by her travels and research. Southern India holds a special place in her heart.
Join Chef Heidi as she helps you explore this delicious cuisine with a taste of homemade Kerala masala (spice mix), and seafood in a coconut curry sauce with fragrant basmati rice.
Participants will learn how to make homemade spice mixes (masalas) and how to properly cook them. The class will include both demonstration instruction and hands-on cooking. We will cook and share a delicious South Indian meal, including sambar dahl, coconut seafood curry, homemade fruit chutney, basmati rice pilaf, spiced vegetables and more!
