Event Description
An exciting opportunity to join a discussion on the current state of Victoria's transit and where it will be going in the future.
Victoria is growing, and how we move through our city shapes the way we live in it. Good transit is a key ingredient to our city's success.
Welcome to the Spring 2026 launch of The Streetlamp Salon. For our first event of the year, we are hosting a positive, forward-looking conversation about the reality and the potential of transit in Greater Victoria.
This will be an exciting, inclusive and insightful exploration of our transportation ecosystem. We are bringing together dedicated urbanists, advocates, and experts to discuss what is working, what needs to evolve, and how we can build a more connected, accessible city for everyone.
The Speakers:
• Todd Litman (Victoria Transport Policy Institute): Bringing decades of research and global context to how we plan and fund equitable urban mobility.
• Sam Holland (Better Transit YYJ): Sharing grassroots perspectives and advocacy for immediate, bus-focused improvements and rider experiences.
• Levi Megenbir (BC Transit): Bringing a focused perspective on the opportunities with transit in the region.
• Moderated by: Ray Straatsma
The Vibe & The Venue:
We are thrilled to host this conversation at the beautiful new Ruth & Dean location on Store Street. This is about community as much as it is about urbanism. Food, coffee, and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening, and we have intentionally carved out plenty of time after the panel for everyone to connect.
The Schedule (Tuesday, March 10):
• 6:00 PM: Doors Open (Settle in, grab a coffee and a bite)
• 6:30 PM: Panel Discussion
• 7:30 PM: Audience Q&A
• 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Open Networking & Mingling
Space is strictly limited to 40 people to keep the evening intimate and conversational. Our previous events sold out quickly, so please secure your ticket early!
Tickets are available at three levels. General Admission is our standard ticket for the evening. Because we want to make sure everyone who is interested can attend, we also offer Community Tickets where you can set your own price to ensure cost is never a barrier. Finally, for those who want to chip in a little extra, our Salon Supporter level includes a premium reserved seat with the best sightlines in the room, a special gift, and the knowledge that your support directly subsidizes our community tickets and encourages broad participation.
