Event Description

This walking tour explores how power and belonging has been mapped into Victoria. Hosted by Chris of Discover the Past. What if you could see the invisible systems that shape a city, past and present? This walking tour explores how power has been mapped onto Victoria and how today’s digital tools (maps, data, AI) can either reinforce inequity or support community care. Guided by Chris Adams of Discover the Past, participants will move through key downtown sites to uncover stories of who was counted, who was excluded, and how communities fought to be seen. The tour ends with a reflection on how AI and modern data systems still shape access, belonging, and public space. Hosted by Chris Adams of Discover the Past. This tour will be led by: Chris Adams: Historical raconteur and member of the Victoria Storytellers’ Guild, Chris delights in sharing tales of Victoria’s colourful past. At an early age, Chris ventured into the haunted graveyards and dark alleyways of Victoria alongside his father, John. After time living in several of Britain’s most haunted cities, Chris has returned to Victoria, bringing with him his experience and enthusiasm for storytelling. ---------- Walking Tour: Mapping Power, Place & Belonging Meet at Centennial Square Victoria, BC Sunday, March 22, 2026 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm ---------- Accessibility: Email all accessibility requests to hello@creansociety.org, or call 250-721-9611. ---------- This tour is part of CREAN’s Cracks in the Concrete Conference, March 20-22, 2026.
