Event Description
Y Mind is an innovative, early intervention, group based, psych-ed program that helps young adults (18-30) learn about their minds to better manage stress. Helping you to improve your sense of well-being, Y Mind introduces you to evidence-based tools and connects you with peers and experienced professionals.
This psych ed program uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy that is different from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It does not seek to change the thoughts but to accept them, give space to emotions and not get pulled into the struggle. It identifies individual internal values to move you forward in a meaningful way, using mindfulness and Self-Compassion. It is a valuable life skill that you can use for the rest of your life.
There is NO COST. It is FREE education and support, at a time when most of us are struggling to make ends meet, or perhaps waiting months for counselors. You do not need a referral or diagnosis. You get a Y gym membership during the program (mind/body), a cool workbook and copy of the Happiness Trap graphic book. We do information sessions and intakes to make sure that the program is a good fit for people experiencing mild to moderate stress. We learn about anatomy and physical health, but not how our mind works and how to have a better relationship with it. Now you can.
This is an information session to check us out and see if you are interested in participating in meeting once a week for 2.5 hours for seven weeks.
