Event Description

FEM-EXPO takes place on the lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən and Songhees peoples, therefore it is imperative to open the week grounded in Indigenous practice, commemoration, and relationship to land. We are honoured that the lək̓ʷəŋən traditional dancers will be present as the first event to ground the rest of our Feminist Empowerment Expo. This gathering is an intentional moment to pause, witness, and honour the land and its peoples before moving into a week of feminist organizing, art, and collective learning. The ceremony invites participants to reflect on the responsibilities that come with gathering on Indigenous land and the importance of rooting liberation work in respect, accountability, and ongoing presence. All FEM-EXPO attendees are encouraged to attend. This space is open to anyone who wishes to begin the week with care, intention, and grounding. Please arrive on time and be prepared to participate respectfully.
