Event Description
Celebrate 45 years of Neptoon Records with The Mummies, The Vicious Cycles, Night Court and Neptoon DJ’s!
THE MUMMIES
The once and future kings of budget rock, the Mummies did for garage rock what the New Bomb Turks did for punk: stripped it to the frame, made it as raunchy as it deserved to be, and reminded everyone what was cool and crazy about the stuff in the first place. The Mummies achieved their greatest notoriety after they broke up in the mid 1990s, but it’s difficult to imagine the rawest edge of the garage revival bands existing without the guiding influence of the gauze-wrapped foursome.
While the band found a home in the West Coast garage/surf revival scene alongside like-minded bands such as the Phantom Surfers and the Untamed Youth, the Mummies set out to be louder, cruder, and more obnoxious than anyone; bashing out frantic and primitive versions of such classics as “Justine” and “Shot Down” alongside middle-finger originals like “Your Ass (Is Next in Line),” “The Thing From Venus,” and “Shut Yer Mouth” on cheap vintage gear rescued from pawn shops and garage sales.
The Mummies have since arranged one-off concert reunions on an intermittent basis, starting in 2008. This will be their first time playing Vancouver since 1991!!!!
THE VICIOUS CYCLES
Long time Vancouver, Canada favorites The Vicious Cycles play hook-heavy singalong moto-anthems. They are punk rockers born in the garage, delivering songs straight from a rock-n-roll heart! There is chaos. Sometimes there is fire. Things get burnt. Everyone has a good time.
NIGHT COURT
Vancouver power trio Night Court was born during the great lockdown of 2020 from lifelong friends Jiffy and Dave-O. Night Court’s energetic live performances have earned them gigs supporting everyone from hometown punk progenitors Pointed Sticks to Welsh post-hardcore noise enthusiasts Mclusky. Currently booking dates in Canada and the US, Night Court demands attention, but long attention spans are not required.
