Please join us in the Events Pavilion at the Sooke Region Museum for an evening of live music in a cozy setting! On 10 June, we welcome two talented acts: the BC-based singer-songwriter John Aaron Cockburn and the Kat Kadoski Tree-o, a delightfully eclectic local group.
John Aaron Cockburn
A resident of BC by way of Montréal, John Aaron Cockburn has been captivating audiences across North America and Europe with his distinct songwriting style and musicianship since 2012. Throughout his career, he has interchanged folk, world, indie rock, Americana, jazz, and chamber music.
From breaking out as bandleader/composer with the Montreal Alt-Folk Collective Little Suns (True North Records) to his solo ventures and his work founding and leading Victoria's KSAR, Cockburn has transfixed audiences with his haunting lyricism and soothing voice, skillful musicianship, and songs which are somehow novel, yet familiar.
Also of note are his collaborations with his uncle, Canadian folk music icon Bruce Cockburn, as touring accompaniment and performer on the Juno Award-winning album Bone on Bone.
“There's raw vulnerability to the material, but it remains inviting, and never alienating, the audience is connected through a sincere, heartfelt emotional presence, while never exaggerating for the sake of making a point.”
Cockburn is currently booking dates across North America in anticipation of a new batch of songs to be released Summer 2026.
Kat Kadoski Tree-o
The Kat Kadoski Tree-o brings a joyful, heartfelt, and dynamic approach to music. This genre-bending group explores countless different styles, including roots, country, rock, pop, jazz, folk, and much more!
Katrina Kadoski takes on voice, guitar, and songwriting duties for the group. She loves using music for healing, telling stories, connecting people and having fun. Bassist Shane Sutherland, a dedicated and seasoned musician, has toured with acts including Heather Blush and the Uppercuts. On drums and vocals is Keith Bjorndal, a versatile performer who has played with many musicians from Vancouver Island, including the popular Sidney band The Haven.
The band loves to mix things up and keep audiences guessing, so you're sure to be constantly surprised and delighted by these multitalented musicians!
