A night of swinging big band tunes, carrying on the tradition of Don Leppard. Victoria’s 17-piece Don Leppard Big Band plays everything from Count Basie and Duke Ellington classics to contemporary jazz arrangements. Its repertoire includes works from the libraries of such jazz greats as Woody Herman, Benny Goodman, The Boss Brass, Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson, along with many compositions and arrangements written by its band members. Ryan Oliver spent two decades as a professional saxophonist in Toronto and New York City, touring the world with the legendary Shuffle Demons for over 15 years. He has appeared on dozens of recordings as a sideman and leader. Oliver has been nominated for a Juno award, the Prix De Jazz at the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Western Canadian Music Awards' Jazz Musician of the Year.
